Welcome to Georgia Physician magazine We are excited and pleased to publish the first issue of Georgia Physician. Its concept and design have been incubating for some time, as did our two other healthcare-related magazines that have taken form over the past dozen years. Our roots lie in the healthcare marketplace, not publishing. In fact, our first magazine, Repertoire, came about quite by accident. Our company was founded by two medical sales people who cut their teeth selling a variety of diagnostic instruments and equipment through the distribution channel that serves virtually all of the 21,000 physicians in the state of Georgia. Repertoire magazine launched in 1992, focusing on the 6,000 sales representatives who sell supplies, equipment and services to physicians, hospitals and long-term care facilities across the nation. While healthcare is and was our nation's largest industry, the distribution sector is small and focused. This community of sales reps share common interests and goals, and responded favorably to a magazine that focuses on them and the niche they serve. It is in much the same context that we hope to serve Georgia's physician community. As healthcare professionals, reading material is not something lacking in any of your Òdiets.Ó However, we believe that our content mix of healthcare and lifestyle issues will deliver a pleasing combination of elements important in your lives. It is our hope that Georgia Physician will present a balance of professional issues that touch your lives, as well as those that affect you and your families personally. We know that time is, perhaps, one of your most cherished assets. We hope that Georgia Physician becomes a welcomed addition to your reading list, whether it is in the office or at home. As the only magazine focused exclusively on the practice and lifestyle issues of Georgia physicians, we're confident this publication will give you a unique sense of community as well as a forum for your input and ideas.
